SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 12 (Xinhuan), September 12, local time, at the opening ceremony of the "China Corner" of the 2018 Global Climate Action Summit, supported by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the US Government of California, Energy Eric Heitz, founder and CEO of the Foundation, pointed out that there are many successful stories about climate change, innovative technologies and policies that are widely spread across the globe.

EricHeitz talked about the window of China's reform and opening up - Shenzhen. He pointed out that "Shenzhen has a very good development story. It was only a fishing village 20 years ago. Now the population has reached 12 million and it is a very beautiful modern city."

What impressed Eric Heitz in particular was the innovation that Shenzhen made in dealing with climate change. He pointed out that Shenzhen has a concept called “double standard”, which meets the standards of air quality on the one hand and carbon emissions on the other hand.

It is reported that in 2015, Shenzhen took the lead in proposing the goal of achieving peak carbon emissions in 2022, and recently proposed to achieve the second phase (25 μg/m3) air quality standard of the World Health Organization that is higher than the current national air quality standards by 2020. The goal.

Eric Heitz pointed out that Shenzhen's “double compliance” has played a model role, and this experience can be communicated to other parts of the world to promote the rapid development of climate change and low carbon emissions.

In addition to Shenzhen, more stories are also staged in China. Eric Heitz said: "These are all evidence that we have a global solution for climate change. Of course we have not wasted time, low carbon is our vision."

It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the United States, the Energy Foundation has been focusing on China for a long time, aiming to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy development, and help China transition to the future of sustainable energy. .

Eric Heitz said that the global economy will eventually transform into clean energy, which is unavoidable. “The Energy Foundation will continue to act as a bridge to promote global best practices between China and the US while promoting these innovations globally.”
