High-level representatives from the International Finance Forum (IFF) and the University of International Business and Economics met recently to plan the direction of the recently formed Joint Research Institute of IFF and UIBE, marking an important first step in the cooperation between the two sides.

Top of the agenda was the compilation of the IFF Annual Research Report and Deputy Secretary-General Shen Gang of the IFF Secretariat explained the core structure of the report, including the world economic outlook, regional economic dynamics and special research.

Lin Jianhai, Executive Vice President of the IFF, emphasized how the report should focus on global economic forecasts before zooming in on topical issues such as financial security, global industrial chains and trade rules from a multi-dimensional and international perspective.

The new institute should not only write high-quality reports, but also hold regular academic meetings, Lin said. Academic discussions not only promote the trading of ideas, but also inspire new research directions, and will inject a steady stream of vitality into the long-term development of the Institute.

President Zhao Zhongxiu of the University of International Business and Economics said the university will fully support the work of IFF, not only to provide human and material resources, but also to set up a special working group to mobilize the research forces of the whole college to work with IFF to perform high-quality research.

The Joint Research Institute of IFF and UIBE should give full play to its research strengths in the fields of international finance and trade, focus on hot topics at home and abroad, and conduct research in a forward-looking manner, striving to become a think tank for the government and businesses, Zhao said. This type of research will not only help enhance the professionalism of the institute and expand its influence, but will also improve the research level of both parties.

The meeting marks the beginning of the cooperation between the two sides.
